Wild-caught Alaska king salmon, sometimes known as Chinook salmon, is widely thought to provide the richest flavor of the wild Alaska salmon, because of its highest Omega 3 fat levels. Ours is troll-caught using individual lures and lines and portioned into perfect four to five-ounce servings for your convenience.

How Do I Cook King Salmon?

Grilling: To grill king salmon, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the salmon with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.


Baking: To bake king salmon, preheat your oven to 400°F. Place the salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the salmon with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.


Broiling: To broil king salmon, preheat your broiler to high. Brush the salmon with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the salmon on a broiler pan and broil for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Shipping for Frozen Items

Shipping is free on orders over $100. We will ship your package via UPS/FedEx Ground*, unless your location is west coast in which case we will automatically ship Express for a 2 to 3 day Transit. Your package will take 1 to 3 days to arrive to you once it is shipped. We do not ship across weekends because shipping time extends past the effectiveness of dry ice. 
  • Orders placed on Monday will ship same day if placed before 8:00 AM ET.
  • Orders placed on Tuesday thru Wednesday will ship same day if placed before 12pm ET.
  • Orders placed after 12pm ET Tuesday will be shipped the following day.
  • Orders placed on Wednesday after 12pm thru Sunday will ship Monday, with the following exception:
  • Orders placed on Wednesday thru Thursday before 12pm within (NC, SC & VA only) will ship same day, since delivery takes one day.
We are unable to ship to PO boxes or FPO or APO addresses. Currently we are able to ship only to continental US addresses.

    You may request or schedule a delivery date in the future and we will do our best to accommodate the requested date. However, please note that certain dates may be impossible to accommodate depending on your area, day of the week, weather, and carrier delivery schedule. E.g: Orders requested for Monday delivery could be delivered the Friday before or on a later day of the requested week. 

    Shipping Tinned Fish

    To prevent damage during transit, tinned items will always ship separately from frozen items. Tinned items will ship with FedEx Ground economy and may take up to 7 business days for delivery.

    Storage

    Seafood ordered from Sizzlefish should be kept frozen until ready for preparation. Items can be stored frozen for up to 12 months, but are best if consumed within 6 months of purchase.

    Thawing Instructions:

    The best way to thaw our seafood is to remove the product from the original packaging, place it in a plastic bag, and allow it to thaw in the refrigerator for about 6 hours. If you require faster thawing, we recommend placing the product into a non-vacuum sealed bag and placing it in cool water for around thirty minutes to an hour.

    Cooking Instructions:

    Once thawed and removed from packaging, liberally season desired spices to your fillet. (Tip: lay fish on parchment or wax paper for an easy clean up).

    King salmon can be cooked in various ways, including pan-searing, baking, grilling, and smoking. Here are some tips for cooking king salmon:

    Pan-Searing:

    Pat dry and salt the skin. This will enable the skin to become crispy and not stick to the bottom of the pan. Turn the heat on the nonstick pan to medium-high. Once hot, add your oil(about 1-2 tbsp is plenty). Place the fish into the hot pan and sauté for approximately 6-8 minutes, skin side down. Flip to the flesh side with a fish spatula for 2-3 minutes.

    Baking:

    Place salmon on an oven-safe pan and bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 125°F for medium and 145°F for well done. Be careful not to overcook Sockeye, or it can become extremely dry.

    Grilling:

    Place salmon on tin foil or cedar plank (you can purchase them on Sizzlefish) and cook for approximately 8-12 minutes, depending on the fillet's thickness and the temperature of your grill. You aim for the internal temperature at 125°F for medium and 145°F for well done.

    Smoking:

    Prepare your smoker according to the manufacturer's instructions to smoke king salmon. Brush the salmon with olive oil and season with your favorite herbs and spices. Place the salmon in the smoker and smoke for 1-2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.

    "My second order. One was shipped to my son in law in Arizona. He absolutely loved the flavor and texture. I prepared ours last weekend.     "While we find Sizzlefish. com to be a very professional company, who processes orders relatively quickly with seafood shipped with the right amount of dry ice to ensure freshness, this order of salmon was a bit rubbery with some pieces having multiple bones. Perhaps we are not used to Alaskan King Salmon's texture? We prefer Faroe Island, which is what I just placed an order for with SizzleFish. Looking forward to our experience with that!"

    Can I designate thicker center cuts for a larger order of King Salmon? I don't want tail or gill portions? I assume the portions a re flash frozen and shipped in dry ice.

    Where is sizzlefish located?
    Sizzlefish is located in eastern North Carolina. We source our fish and shellfish from various locations and have them sent to our facility for processing and shipping. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
    All the pictures show only center cut portions of salmon. Is this what I will get or are some portions the tail end? Just want to understand what I will receive.

    We can certainly advise you on this! Our King Salmon is wild-caught. To be more specific it is troll-caught using individual lures and lines in Alaska.
    What vegetable is included in the 4 oz salmon meal? Is the salmon skinless?
    I'm so sorry if there has been any confusion but we don't sell any vegetables with our Salmon and it doesn't come as a meal. It would just be an uncooked fillet of Salmon and it is skin-on and boneless.
