Whole30 Halibut Shawarma

This Greek spin on shawarma uses halibut in place of chicken. A high protein meal that’s bursting with Mediterranean flavor and Whole30 compliant.

Ingredients

  • 2 halibut filets, thawed
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. coriander
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. turmeric
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced red onions, grape tomatoes, shredded lettuce, lemons

 

How to Make It

  1. To a large plastic bag, add the cumin, coriander, garlic powder, paprika, turmeric and cayenne. Add the salt, pepper, oil, lemon juice and halibut.
  2. Marinade 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Heat a skillet to medium heat.
  4. Place the halibut fillets in the skillet with the juice from the bag.
  5. Cook 5-8 minutes flipping once until opaque and fragrant.
  6. Serve immediately with sliced red onions, grape tomatoes, shredded lettuce, lemons.
