Here at Sizzlefish, our wild Alaska king salmon contains the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids compared to other Alaskan species. Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial for protecting the heart, brain, blood vessels while reducing inflammation. King salmon can also be used. Sockeye or Atlantic are both great options for this recipe.
To seal in rich butter flavor, butter is softened and mixed with plenty of garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper before being slathered on the salmon. The compound butter is great for keeping the herbs on the fish as it cooks. Depending on the thickness of your salmon, 8-12 minutes will do the trick to create a crispy golden browned outside and tender center. You can make your own Italian seasoning blend by using a mix of dried oregano, thyme, basil, marjoram or rosemary.
Lining the air fryer with foil keeps the butter from falling through as it cooks. The foil also makes clean up a breeze. Any leftover drippings of butter in the basket can be drizzled over salmon for a zero-waste meal.
