No worries! You can swap it with another fortified wine like Madeira or dry sherry. If you prefer non-alcoholic, grape juice mixed with a bit of brandy extract works too.
Switching Things Up: Substitutions and Variations
Don't have all the ingredients? Or simply want to experiment? Here are some ideas:
- Shrimp: If colossal shrimp is hard to find, regular-sized ones work too. Just remember, they cook a bit faster.
- Mushrooms: Not a fan of cremini? Go for button or portobello instead. Feeling fancy? Wild mushrooms it is!
- Dairy-free: Simply skip the heavy cream or replace it with non-dairy milk like almond or coconut.
- Gluten-free: Use gluten-free flour options like rice flour or a gluten-free all-purpose blend.
